Founded by artists Rebecca Scott and Mark Woods, Cross Lane Projects brings new contemporary art to Cumbria and is situated in a former Kendal Mint Cake factory in central Kendal.
Cross Lane Projects presents a curated programme of contemporary exhibitions by local, international and British artists with accompanying talks and events. Exhibitions are held in Spring through to Autumn, including working alongside the Mark Tanner Sculpture Award and The Lakes International Comic Arts Festival.
The gallery does not represent artists but curates shows from invitation and submissions.
Since opening on 29 June 2018 with Female Trouble – Paula Rego & Rebecca Scott, we have been delighted with the response from visitors and press who have welcomed the “fresh new space” in Kendal. View a round-up of our opening media coverage here. In 2019, we were shortlisted as a Finalist (Venue) for the Cumbria Life Culture Awards.
